Relationships, Identity & LGBTQI+
I began my career as a relationship counsellor with Relate which required ongoing mandatory training to accommodate all kinds of couples and families. Since then I have expanded my interest in the field, now specialising in non-mainstream areas, many of which I have personal experience of, both in my own life and that of those close to me.
An interest in relationship diversity inevitably overlaps with non-mainstream identities, from sexuality and gender identity to non-monogamy and neurodivergence, all of which frequenty co-occur and influence each other.
Areas I have experience working with include:
- Same sex and gender non-conforming relationships
- Polyamory and Ethical/Consensual Non-monogamy (ENM/CNM)
- Defining who you are in and through your relationships
- Navigating neurodivergent relationships
- Gender questioning, transitioning and exploring identity outside the binary
- Impact of gender/sexuality questioning on relationships
- Family of origin – issues past and present
- Parenting and step-parenting
- Marriage, separation and divorce
- Co-parenting as friends or ex-partners
- Living Apart Together (LAT)
- Solo by choice
- Asexuality/Aromanticism
- Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) and relationships
- Coming out – as gay, bi, trans, asexual, polyamorous, neurodivergent and more
I hope I have the humility as well as the experience to embrace whatever situation you bring me. I may not be familiar with your exact scenario but I am passionate about working with difference and look forward to exploring your individual situation and challenges with you.
